Challenge: Users with UnitedHealthcare vision insurance don’t have quick and easy access to find a vision provider. The current experience was poor, due to linking out to a third-party directory and confusing content.
Solution: Create a new vision directory within the Rally experience that would make it simpler to find vision care. Two must-haves were a link to the medical directory and an online retail option. The former, because users may not be aware that certain eye exams are classified under Medical, not Vision; the latter because many users prefer the convenience of online shopping.
How I helped: I worked with the product manager and a designer. We redesigned the icons, and I simplified the copy.
Old experience
The vision directory links out to a third-party.
New experience
The new directory is embedded in the experience with a clear description of what they will find when they click on it. I shortened the search bar copy and deleted “only” from the banner copy to make it sound more positive (that we “cover” these services vs we “only cover” these services.) I rewrote the action item descriptions to be clear and concise.
